Default New Quad!

So I'm new to the sport quads and (as a female) do not want to get ripped of with this lol and would like some input...
I have a jetmoto 250 cc to start with and I'm ready to graduate-I've had it a few months but was used to riding bigger ones of my buddies. Plus, this ride is always struggling with something! So I found a used Acrtic Cat 400 DVX. It says its an 04 but was purchased new in 06. It looks very clean in the pic. The guy is asking $2750. It says hardly ridden, very clean, and reverse. I'm not familiar with this model at all and not many of my buds are, either. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about this one? Thanx!

2750 sounds like a pretty fair price according to kbb.com its worth about 3150. Even if it says hardly ridden would still test ride it before buying it and check it over throughly, check plug to see if it has been ridden lean or rich, frame for rust of stress cracks or bends. and if you do buy it change the oil immediately, you never know the previous owners maintenance schedule then after about 10 hours of riding change it again. better safe than sorry. as far as the machine i personally dont know all that much about them but havent read any horror stories about them that i can think of. im sure others will chime in... GOOD LUCK!

well the dvx is a decent machine, the engine is the same engine used in the ltz 400's, and believe the frame is based off the ltz too. im not a huge fan of the dvx myself, it seams like the gear box has a huge gap between 1st and 2nd. and the ergonomics dont seem right, but then again im 6'4 and used to my rappy. but 2750 seems like a fair price, so if it works good for you thats the only thing that matters.

2750? That's a fair price for an Arctic Cat??? Man I'm confused. I thought they were cheaper built therefore cheaper sold machines? My '05 400ex was like $2500 a year ago and my bros was $2300 and I know they are built solid.

The DVX is the exact same quad as a Z400 or KFX400. They are good machines. The only difference with the DVX is the plastics and seat. I've heard the seat is thin and hard as far as padding goes. The Z400 is much better in that department with a nice cushy seat. I have an 03' Z400 and it's been great(well, it's my wifes). If I were you, I would do the Suzuki or Kawasaki if you can find a similar price as they're the same machine, just more comfy that the DVX. Good Luck!

Ive seen lots of sick videos of dvx's rippin it up,
they seem really nice
I never sat on one tho..

seat being thin and hard?

well for that price You could live with it!

you can always buy a bigger seat... theres a company called hi flite.. im thinking of getting a desert seat
for my 300ex, which is 2 or 2 1/2 inches thicker foam!

and plus, its a nasty 400 sport quad, youll be standing most of the time!

There were some differences between the Z400 clones (shocks), but I think it was more in the later years.

My Z400 was an excellent machine! Good handling, and a realibable engine with lots of hop-up potential.

Well, I found a deal at a dealership and got a 08 Raptor 250 pretty cheap. I took it out last night and luv it. The Jetmoto just sucked lol and this will be great to learn on and upgrade later. Thanks for the replies!
