Turn the ignition key on????

Kick starters can be tricky, becasue they ground to kill the engine and sometimes wiring can seem counter intuitive.

86 model does not have an ignition key; that started with the 87 yr.

where did you get the harness? they did change the harness during the yrs for this model.. so if you got one froma later yr , you have to pay attention to the diagrams; they switched one of the wires that goes to the stator, if i recall correctly. get a clymer manual - well worth it - and see how to wire it. its more than liekly something simple.

but with its age, you may need to buy new stuff espescially a kill switch cluster. i will say hondas weakness over time is electrical contacts in switches. i replaced my kill switch cluster about a yr ago. i also bought every electrical component i could get b/c being an 86 model its harder to find parts so i got everything else just in case.
