Should I buy 1996 Yamaha Warrior 350?
I am looking at a 1996 Warrior 350. The current owner says he replaced:
New Hot Rods Crankshaft and Rod Assembly
Complete Gasket Set
Used Flywheel and One-Way Starter Bearing Assembly
And other non-engine parts. He said it ran great for 2 weeks and then the timing chain broke. He took it apart and noticed that the camshaft was also broken. He thinks it just needs a new camshaft.
Asking $650. Everything else looks good, and it has a lot of new parts. My question is if there could be more serious damage than just replacing the cam? When the cam goes, does it usually cause anything else to go? Could a valve have dropped and smacked the piston or anything like that?
Thanks.
Here is a photo of the quad. Let me know if I should bother with this thing.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>The Warrior is really a very poor design. It handles clunkey, and the engine is ancient technology. </end quote></div>
ALL TRUE!! However, it has always got me home, and is a fun quad to ride on the trails. Although you won't win any drag races with it, the Worrier has enough power to entertain a novice rider. I would compare the $650+the cost of the repair vs. what the bike is worth in good condition.

Thanks for the replies, but my question is whether it is worth the cost of repairs, and how much those repairs might be. I was hoping someone on here might have an idea how much it could cost to repair it, or if I could do the repairs in my own garage.
Thanks

no its not worth it in my opinion the electronics is very expensive the cdi is over 500 bucks if that goes the 96 is the bastard of the all the years of the warrior i bought one used and it ran for about 3 months i replaced the pick up coil the primary coil the high tension coil the stator and i bought a ricks cdi and it still dosent fire right im forced to half buy the oem on a ride that cost me 800 bucks and my lt250r puts it to shame every one is right about it being a novice machine or beginer i let my 10 and 15 year old ride it there is just better more dependable 4 wheelers out there for the money especialy in our current economic times these days
