Where do you ride? What type of riding do you do? I love my LTR. Very comfortable, very fast. It also handles the best, since it is the widest. The 08's have a gripper seat that also has a ton of padding on it that is quite comfortable for longer riding. The TRX lacks EFI, so it is harder to start in the cold, and generally EFI is a lot better than carburated.

Well out of the 3 the LTR is definitely the best! It's the only race-ready of the group. It's 50" wide rear axles and a-arms, 18" tires, and EFI all make it a great track machine. It's good on trails to.

Kawasaki 42.7 hp
Honda 42.6 hp
Suzuki 40.2 hp
Yamaha 38.6 hp

These are directly off the Air Research Board website that does all engine testing for the government.

With a simple $20-50 Yoshimura cherry bomb, and the air baffle removed, you can increase the LTR's output by a few HP.

Those are kinda opposite ends of the spectrum there. Track you want wide and low like the ltr but, for the trails you want ground clearance which the 18" on the LTR will hurt and the widened stance won't help in the tight areas.

As for power. Between the listed 450's the power difference is so minimal that you shouldn't take that as a factor.

I think it really depends on what the trails he rides are like... trail is really a very vague word! The LTR does have 2x the ground clearance of the new 09 YFZ450R though.

I can ride the trails at/near my cottage no problem.. but then again the trails where you ride may be very very very narrow!

Ya "trails" can be vague. My trails are nothing like the one's at say, little Sahara trails here in OK.

I don't think so. What I've read is that the yfz450R has 4.5". The standard yfz450 has like 4.4"! The confusion maybe coming from Suzuki. For some reason they don't measure there clearance at the lowest point.
