A friend of mine owns a 00 400ex and I was going to buy it off of him last week, so I decided to take it out and see how I liked it. I was really impressed at how well it handles, we did some riding through woods, sand pits, and wide open areas. The topend on it isn't great but it is decent, I think adding a tooth on the front sprocket would really make a difference on the bike. It just seems that it hits the rev limiter way to soon, and I just wanna keep shifting it. It jumps great and is controllable in the air. The front wheels don't like the ground too much though, it is wheelying everywhere. I decided not to buy it though, I already have a quadracer, and figured I don't need two bikes, at least not a slower one. I can't say anything really bad about the bike though. Except one, not a major prob though, in the woods it wanted to push the front end alot, so that made it a little bit difficult manuevering through trees. On my quadracer, you can just snap the throttle and steer it, on the 400 it doesn't like to do it. I never rode a 300ex but I would go for the 400, like someone said, if you ride well enough and pick your path wisely through trails, you won't use reverse much. Later

I am having the same difficult decission that you are. I am going to buy a new EX but I am also not sure which would be the better quad for wood riding in PA either. I've heard alot of good things about the 400EX and the 300EX. If you find anything out interesting please let me know.

If I had the $$ I would get the 400ex but I am 15 and I don't mind geting off and pushing it back if I have to. I have A mojave and I use the reverse mostly when I don't have too.

Cory,

I just brought my 400ex it really sucks!
I get stuck all the time in the mud and it has no back up and also if your battery dies you don't have startup recoil! The oil tank is sticky outside in the front of the 400ex and a stick poke up right though the oil tank you are history!
My friend just brought his 400 sport and he hate it! It blew up 2 times because it get to hot up in his a$$. 300ex is right for you! nice speed and back up if you get stuck and it has higher groud clearace for going over logs and rocks!
300ex is 1000 dollars less! Get a life
you guys are dump to buy 400ex for a 1000 dollar more for no back up and other crap stuff!

300 is on the way!
I am trading for 300ex!

Wolverine
Hope you understand Cory!
