Default drilled lid or...?

i have a 300ex with full exhaust that im jetting right now. im wondering if drilling about 5, 1" holes in the top of the lid will be effective? im looking to get the maximum power out of all my mods, but i still ride in very dusty conditions and want the protection of the lid on.

whata you guys think?

In the old days, I use to drill 1" holes and put in those round vents that UNI sells. They have filters in them, so they help keep the dust under control.

Lately however, I have switched to EHS Racing airbox lids, with Outrewears. They keep the big stuff out, and the filter only has to handle the rest. Works well....and believe me, I ride in some dusty conditions!

Does EHS require rejetting then for opening up the air flow a little.

Think about it.....if you did the mod and you don't need to rejet, then all you did was waste your money and let some extra dust in....so then what would be the point????

I am sorry if I offended someone, but in all the listings it didn't state about rejetting except for the first one. I asked more for the original poster for information for others so they didn't put on a special lid or drill holes and have a melt down.
Thank you though for the information.

The whole point of doing intake and exhaust mods, is to get more air in there so you can also get more fuel in there!!! If you do the intake/outflow without doing the necessary rejet, you will be lean and damage your engine.

I thought this was just common sense knowledge! Why would we recommend you waste your money on a mod that didn't do anything? but open up your airbox to more dust???
