Default Raptor 350?

I am just looking for something reliable that i can trail ride with. I'm not looking for anything extremely powerful because i will probably not be leaving 3rd gear in most of the trails that i ride. I have been looking at the raptor 350 because my dad had an old warrior and he loved it. So basically what I am asking is how reliable are the raptor 350's? I know they are air cooled that is why I am asking. My dad said he never had any problems with his warrior and they are the same engine. I only have about $2200 to work with. So can someone tell me a little about the raptor?

BTW here is 2 links to raptor 350's i have found on craigslist.
2006 Yamaha Raptor This one has some aftermarket stuff. He says it is in excellent condition and runs well. I noticed the rust colored look on the pipe and i am not sure if it is discoloration or not. He said it was but i'm not sure.

2006 Yamaha Raptor 350 Special Edition This one is pretty much brand new.

Thanks.

The raptor 350 aka the warrior 350 is a very good quad it is defintly not the most powerfull out there but it would be good for what you are saying you would use it for also I would check out the honda 400ex and the suzuki z400 they are both great machines also but any of these would be good for what you are saying you would do with it.

X2 On everything said! I would look for a cheap 400EX before the 350. A better all around bike with way more hop up potential and aftermarket support for it.

Personally I like to stay away from bikes that have been modded because 9 out of 10 time most people have no clue as to what they are doing with these mods causing the bike to run way to lean or rich thus causing major engine damage. With that said use your head and test ride the bike and inspect ALL major components including fluid before laying your money down on it!

Well i looked around and found this..
04 ARTIC CAT DVX 400 LTZ 400

the only thing that worries me is that it is an 04 model. Which means it is already 7 years old. It looks clean and such and I love the plastic design on the dvx. I just worry about getting something that old and it constantly be a problem.

The first one looks like mud burned onto the pipe. Common and easily cleaned up with some Simple Green and elbow grease. The rest of the pipe is turning a nice golden brown, exactly what it should do, I wouldn't worry about it. The Cat is the best deal. From the pic it looks to have little use on it despite the age.

I'd probably buy a quad with mods if it runs good and no backfires, but I'd want to know what they had done.
