raptor 700 vs ltz400
#1
i have a z400 that i love and i mainly ride trails but i do drag some and also play around like donuts and wheelies. i think my z has pretty good power for what it is but i have an oppurtunity to get an 07 raptor 700 which is fuel injected. should i get rid of mine or keep it. also is the 700 too much for the trails cause i know its faster than my z

The 700 was made for trails. swapping to the 700 you are gaining power but loosing a bit in handling. Both are great machines, any chance you can get some seat time on a 700 to see for yourself?

Both are great bikes built for two separate proposes! IMO You wont find a better all around trail sport quad than the Raptor 700! The Z400 is the best in its class as well but lacks the low RPM you get from a big bore. If hill climbs and all out speed are your thing the 700 is king. If want a track quad that can be ridden on the trail stick with the 400.

well the coment about the raptor being good at climbing hills makes me want to definatly get the raptor cause i love climbing hills. but i do jump some, are the raptors suspension good for jumping as well as the trails.

The Raptor is based off the old YFZ platform and is almost identical. So yes it will jump it just takes more body English than the Z in some situations but in time you wont notice a difference.

Nothing against raptors and I'm sure this doesn't happen often so raptor guys don't get upset. This was my friends frame on his 08 700 after a day of trying to keep up with me on my Z. He bottomed out on a small jump and this happened. The jump was a 20ft table top that he landed on top of. He is not a big guy either, 150lbs. I don't trust bolted together frames. The only reason they are making them like this is because it's much cheaper and faster to build with bolts/rivets then to weld it.
Right side cracked almost all the way across the frame spar.

Left side was smaller, about half way though the frame spar.
