Heres my 400ex review:
Overall: *********************************
Value: *******************************
Meets Expectations: *********************************
Ok, well, 400ex seems like a tank at 1st, compared to my 300ex that i could rip on. It has some good power, rides good. The only thing i have a problem with is the 400 is much longer than a 300. It sort of makes you stoop over to have full control when riding a straight normal trail, the only time i feel pretty comfortable is when i'm ripping on it.... going downhill, standing up....
A lot of this is based on your own opinion though.... I wouldn't have a polaris or an atc though. I think you just need to get on craigslist, start looking at quads, go find one you like, and give her a test drive. If the quad is not comfortable i wouldn't go for it.

I only know the 400 since I have one, only con I can gripe about on it is top speed isn't nothing to write home about, if you wanna go fast get a 450r. Other than that, the 400 kicks *** and does everything I need it to do, I boosted up my horsepower a little by removing the lid on the air filter box, allows for more airflow and the motor is much more responsive and quicker off the line. Sadly it is winter right now so I haven't really gotta test mine out on any decent trails just yet. I wouldn't really want it any other way though, the 400cc engine is a proven reliable workhorse and will give you many seasons of riding enjoyment with regular maintenance.
