you want a 250R. especially in the woods. my LT250 is awesome in the woods. i rode a banshee in the woods once and it wasn't as fun. you have to be very skilled to make the banshee good in the woods. also the banshee costs more to rebuild because of 2 cylenders. also i think the 250r is cooler lookin too but i'm sure some banshee guys will disagree with me

I have one of each and have had no real major problems with either of them. I can tell you that the Banshee is much faster and is really at home in the wide open of the deserts and dunes, but is by no means limited in the woods. I have midrange pipes on the Banshee and it has a very ride-able powerband. It is much heavier in the nose, so it doesn't handle whoops as good as the R.
The TRX250R is by far, the best handling stock machine I have ever ridden. It only has a FMF Fatty pipe and it is pretty fast. Currently, it is waiting on complete suspension and probably a 310 kit. I stripped it completely down and am replacing everything that was worn. My frame was cracked in many places so it was repaired and gusseted for strength. I think you might be happy on either machine, but why not a 400EX? Sounds like it would be perfect for you.

The 250R is very reliable I had mine for 7 yrs. and It never broke down. I was a jumping freak back then and after many many 60+ jumps it held up perfect. I was riding 20+ hours a week then and never any problems. I ride tight woods and rocky trails very fast and the handling is outstanding. I also rode the R in the sand alot and it was awsome. I have rode a few banshee's and they do not perform as well in the woods, but, out in the wide open they shine. The main reason I ride a Suzuki LT250R is I found a very modded quad at a very good price. After riding freinds LT's in the past I was not realy looking for one, but, With a few mods these are very good quads too. I am very happy with my LT and would suggest one to anybody. The LT's that I rode in the past were all stock and were a little lacking to the Honda, however with reeds, air filter, and a good pipe and silencer and a little jetting they are great. So I would say that even though the Honda's may be older they are still very reliable quads. With any used quad look it over very good. Check for frame cracks especialy around the motor mounts, check all the berings and bushings for wear, check the compression and spark, also check the oil and water. I'm shure you will be happy with a 250R.
