The Cannondale brochure which is based on a SuperFlow dyno (not a DynoJet which yeilds higher numbers)test says the Cannibal has 33 HP, also says the 400ex has 21, Raptor has 28, and DS has 37. It also says the Moto & Blaze are 39HP (results of a pipe and FI mapping) so for all intensive purposes they are "piped" Cannibals, and you can't really "pipe" a Moto or a Blaze

now, lets do a theoretical comparison...
fact: dirtwheels "piped" a Raptor for a 34% increase in HP
fact: piping a Cannibal yeilds an 18% increase in HP
fact: dirtwheels "piped" a 400EX for a 2HP increase
assumption: based on the Bomb forum, a piped DS yeilds 2HP as well

using the SuperFlow dyno numbers...
that would give a "piped" 400EX 23HP & a ptw ratio of 0.0615
&
that would give a "piped" DS650 39HP & a ptw ratio of 0.0821
&
that would give a "piped" Raptor 38HP & a ptw ratio of 0.0952
&
that would give a "piped" Cannibal 39HP & a ptw ratio of 0.1040
__________________________________________________ ________________________

mathmatically, that means all of the following scenerios would be EQUAL in a drag race:

a "piped" 400EX with a 120lb. rider
a "piped" DS650 with a 264lb. rider
a "piped" Raptor with a 324lb. rider
a "piped" Cannibal with a 364lb. rider

just food for thought...

DSAPP, I remember your power to weight ratios comparsion from a while back. You were off on some but that's not why I'm replying.

Why are these numbers so important?? these formulas and ratios and theories. I'm a pretty intelligent guy I guess...college educated plus masters bla bla bla and can appreciate what you're getting at but the point being: it's just like you said...theory. This crap doesn't matter in reality. ATVs were not built for top speed. If it was that important, it would listed in the brochure. My Tecate 4 is the fastest stock 250 ever made. Is that cool sure? sure. Is the most important thing? NO! It never won a shootout against the R and 'racer...in spite of its power! ATVs are intended for vaious off road uses and straight line drags isn't one of them. The winner of the drag race may be inferior in a more demanding situation.

But anyway, I wouldn't waste my time worrying about these hypothetical situations. Who would win head to head Godzilla or King Kong? Darth Maul or Darth Vader? Get my meaning?? hahaha.

Also, there is another very important factor missing...TORQUE. Everyone is so wrapped up in HP #'s. I hate to tell you TORQUE is just as important.

STEBOB has a good point. HP is good but torque (the rate at which HP is made) is a very important part. A classic example would be a 5.0L Engine. very good motor because of the torque.
