Hi, I am thinking of getting the Kawasaki KFX400, I have ridden ATV's about three times, all auto POL 4x4's, I think they were 325's, not very fast at all. Recently I have become interested in getting a sport quad. I read a few articles on the Suzuki LT-Z400 and they don't recommend it for newbies. Heres where I need some opinions, preferably from people who also snowmobile. I have been a snowmobiler for about thirteen years, I ride a 600xc POL, I have a hard time believing that it would be difficult for me to control a 400cc 4stroke, I'm sure it's fast, and thats one reason I have become interested in quads lately, they seem to be getting faster and better. Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks.

I've never ridden a snowmobile, but from what I know of them, I don't have a problem recomending a sport quad to you based on your snowmobile experience. Obviously there are differences, but its not like you are a clueless newbie to motorized recreation. Get the Kawi (or Suzuki, they are twins) and have fun.

Yeah you should be able to handle those quads no problem. They won't have anywhere near the power of your 600xc and they aren't that hard to control.

Thanks guys, I really didnt think that I would have much of a problem, I just wanted to get some insight from people who have been in the sport for a while, there might have been a factor I wasnt thinking about.

the only factor youll have to get used to is not hitting 100mph in five seconds

70 on a quad seems faster than hell tho if yer gonna ride anything other than dunes or desert you dont top 50 or 60 that often anyway

mojaveman...

not to be rude or anything, but i max out my EX all the time at the ATV track where i ride...( Hollister)

sledneck...

you should be able to handle just about any stock quad quite well...none of them have near as much as a snowmobile..just make sure you know what your doing...dont jab the throttle on an atv unless you are ready to go skyward.

later
pismoguy.

I have posted this topic in another forum too, and somebody brought up Cannondale as an option. I had always thought that the Dales were too pricy for me, until I saw the MSRP of $6999 for the Cannibal, which is definetly in my price range. Have you guys heard anything bad about the Dales? Everything I have read about them has been nothing but praise for the quality of workmanship and tech. that goes into each machine. The model I am considering over the KFX400 is the 02' Cannibal.
