Predator in Action!!!

mxzxracin,
Between the basic motor mods and the quad, I have much less into it than either a stock DS or Raptor. It's when you get into the suspension and tire mods is where it starts to cost $$$$. As to how fast it will go, who knows. I've never had a long enough or flat straight away to test it with my GPS (the GPS's fault, not mine or the quads). It will flat out haul, though. As far as how quick it is, well my Sport has easily beaten modified Raptors and Banshees. I seriously doubt that a DS 650 would be much more than a speed bump. Besides being lighter (you'd be surprised how light you can make a Polaris with the removal or replacement of several items), having more horsepower (50 or so at the rear wheels) and an automatic transmission that shifts faster than any human can, I doubt if your DS650 would even be in the same league as my Sport. It's not bragging, it's just simple facts.
That's not to say that the DS 650 is a bad machine, far from it. I think that Bombardier has a lot of guts making a quad like that. In fact, if I ever considered a replacement for my Sport the DS would be near the top of my list, right after the Polaris Predator. I especially like the Baja edition and was pleased to no end that they renewed it for 2003. My only complaint is that it's too heavy (sounds funny coming from a "Polaris guy" huh?). 475 lbs is way too much weight for a sport/high performance machine.

OH now you went and did it. [you dought my ds will even be in the same leauge as your sporty]. some one tell me he did not say that!!!!i thought mabey jimbo lost it a little but you won't quit will you.as a polaris owner and a ds owner your stoned dude i will take your little sporty apart so fast you won't know what hit you and thats a fact!!! you must think your talking to a bunch of twelve year olds.[sorry twelve year olds]but we know a little about what where doing than you think and if your words were true everbody here would be on sporty we all seek speed and thats why have choose the rides we have and not the sporty.the definition of the polaris sport [the vehical used to retrive beer from the cantina when your running low at glamis]NOW on the serious side there are polaris that can beat a ds but i took the time to look at yours and your talking way above your capabilites.and as for the mighty predator well you notice you'll find threads saying it passed a 400ex BIG WHOOOOOPIE and it passed a raptor YEAH RIGHT. blew away a z400 YES
YES BUT YOU DONT SEE THEM LOOKING UP THE DS DO YA!!!! later im bored!!
ps: im not upset just telling it the way the rest of the world sees it.

AZ SAND,
Yeah, maybe your right. I did think I was talking to a 12 year old. Namely you! From the looks of you're atrocious typing, spelling, use of grammer, punctuation and capitalization, I thought you were twelve. My bad!
Now on to the machines. Try contacting Dennis Shotwell. He lives out there in Phoenix and owns a Polaris. Perhaps you'd like to try to run with him. He runs a Sport with nitrous oxide on it. He might give you a run for your money.
I never claimed to be the fastest on sand (there is a shortage of dunes here in Pennsylvania, if you haven't noticed) or earth for that matter. I'm only speaking of the machines I've come across. There aren't too many DS 650s (or any other machines) around here running on alcohol, either. Most of the guys running the top end sport/high performance machines around here leave them stock. At the very most, you might come across one with a pipe and jet kit on it. Some guys who have had their machines the longest (mostly Banshees) might have done some serious modding to the engines (porting, reeds, head mods, etc). Some have big bore kits on their machines (mostly 400/440EXs). Are we reading this correctly? I'm talking about basically stock machines with a few mods. Not DS 650s running Team Pami 760 kits with turbo chargers, running nitro methane and costing $15,000+. BASICALLY STOCK MACHINES WITH A FEW MODIFICATIONS. Remember now, you people are the ones who started telling me that I couldn't beat a stock DS 650 or Raptor. Now you want to talk about modified machines? Please! Give me a break! When you people decide to be a bit more reasonable, I'll be back!
mxzxracin,
Even at 475 lbs., the DS 650 Baja is STILL a sweet machine. I forgot about the almost 1 foot of suspension travel at both ends. That would kind of make up for the weight in my book too. The nice part is that I could leave the suspension at it's softest setting (for sag) and still have a ton of suspension left. Your point is well taken. Now if they can just make them in that really nice "Viper Red" like the standard DS.........

we've all been over the spelling thing it dosen't matter much to some of us and yes there are fast polarise but few and far in between and if his is the yellow one ive run across him and he is fast to most bikes.i have been beaten buy a polaris with a 1100 four stroke!and when dose the name calling start.but maybe jimbo was rigth there is no way to describe you with out getting sensored.and so in parting when looking down on someone make sure your not standing on a ladder they get knocked out from under people all the time.

Ive seen that guy with the Yellow Polares and yes that thing hauls a$$ I saw him up at the Cinders in Flagstaff Az.
I really don't know what the big deal is about who makes what kind of quad. Does it really matter? I don't think it really matters if your out having fun.
I wish all these quad riders would write this much to there congress men to keep riding areas open. As much as I have been reading different threads it seem to me that we are all after the same thing, freedom to say what we want about what we ride and the same freedom to ride them where we want. Its up to all of us to keep our riding areas open. Just a little something to ponder.

Yes i spoke with him awhile back and he dose have a sweet ride. And to move on
no we all can't just get alone our sport is fired on competion and that breeds fire. you know the heat saying!! To say eronious things such as we all love the sport can't we just ride and love together is crazey we are not that type of passive people or we would be sitting on the porch. Instead of trying to run with the big dogs. And i don't mean to offend you. But if you don't want to compete
please step aside.fast ds coming threw!!!!
PS: Mike you were awfull brave when picking on smaller ds's your reverse works real good. You did not even have to turn to run.
PS:And yes mike you made a statment refeering to the ds as a speed bump. Claimed your eating every ds you'e seen and then want to cry when one say,s yea right!!!!

Azsand, where was the last place you rode around the phx area? If you havent noticed all our riding places have been restricted. We may be sitting on the porch if we dont speak up about our sport.
I've written to my congressmen and my senators about what is giong on and I get replys back like. Thats the first we have heard about it. that just goes to show that nobody is standing up for our sport.
are you a mamber of the ASA? I only hope that we can contineu on reopening restricted areas after we fight the dunes closure.
and I'm not offended by what you said about competition, but sheer guts and determination is what fuels winners to the finish line, not the make of there ride. if that were true there would only be one company producing one quad and one bike and so on.
