I just purchased this machine and am new to this sit and would like to know if anyone knows what I can do to boost the HP's!
This sure is a fun all around machine for up here in the MN woods & trails. I bought it for my wife to follow me and my oldest son who is 6. I ride a 99 YZ 250 #86 mostly stock (FMF Fatty pipe & FMF Pro turbine core II silencer for " forestry legal riding" ha-ha , anyway my son rides a 2000 Polini X-1 50cc and my wife needed some this for when we ride trails & I wanted something that I could screw around on with my other buddies that have wheelers, but I need to have a little something extra & I was wondering if anyone else has one of these machines that has hopped it up. Let me know your secret's, Thanx, I'm out!

Pllleeeeaaassse tell me you bought the black one, they look soooo cool!!!!
all that aside, top 3 things to give the Wolverine some more pep- slip on silencer, Dyno jet kit(some say it is too much for needle and jets, but it really helps throttle response) and ditch the air filter and get a pro-flow or similar kit to put a clamp on filter (K&N,or foam) in the air box. Not performance parts, but a should-have --- protectors for the rubber CV boots, skid plate, and some a arm guards for the rough stuff.

As far as a slip on do you have any in mind that might be a top choice & would you say its a good choice to install some different tires & rims. I really like the look of the aluminum wheels & the knobby tires, I thought about this over the weekend because I got kind of stuck in a muddy creek and still got out with the OEM tires and wondered if maybe a different set might make a world of difference. I'm out, have to get to work!!!

What's up Scooby!!! I have a 03 Black Wolverine. It's 3 weeks old. I just ordered
a White Brothers R4 exhaust, Pro Design Filter System with a K&N filter, & White Brothers torque stuffer. Can't wait to get this installed. Also will be doing some
rejetting. I'm thinking about putting some 25" tires on the stock wheels to help out in the mud and for better ground clearance. Anyone got suggestions about this. I'll let you know how the mods go......

For a slip on,the Supertrapp IDS is nice, discs are all inside,so mud won't plug them up. FMF Q series is a good one, too. I got some info from a place called MBRP,they make a polished stainless slip on,baffled like stock,no repacking they claim a 2hp increase all through the power band, and a lot more low end grunt.Looks super sharp, polished like chrome, and the db out put is claimed to be 91-92,not much more than stock. For tires, if you like knobbies,Maxxis All Traks are nice, lots of biting edges, rides smooth, too. The 25 inch is only slightly bigger than the factory 23's, but is a bit wider, looks pretty mean. For wheels, the new C series aluminums are nice, but aren't coated,so need more upkeep to stay shiny. ITP Magnums are very nice,or you can go with a standard .190 aluminum and put reinforcing rings on,got them on the back of mine, saving up for the front, looks very trick.

I am considering a White Bros R4 and would like to know how it works for you, do you have any way to dyno your machine for before & after hp's, if so I would be very cool to see them.
Any way, I see you bought the awsome looking black wolf. I'm jealous.
I bought the blue one because my wfie wanted the blue one to match the bikes and I buckeled and gave in. I did however look into purchasing the black plastic and getting the black & camo shock covers to make it look like the one you got except for the wheels & front rack which will have to stay silver.
Have you had any problems with your machine going from reverse to neutral and back into first. Mine seems to go both ways. Once in reverse I shift up and it goes into gear right away, other times it will go into neutral. Not sure if this is normal.

I ran the WB E series and jetted up to a K&N 155 main jet. I also have the Pro Design filter system and Maxxis 25" AlTracs. The Wolv. ran fantastic for me. I had the FMF MegaMax2 and vs. the WB E series the WB was far better overall. More power, no rusting, and sounds better.

If you go for 25" tires I would look at the Altracs as they are light and work great for all types of riding. Maybe not the best mudd setup but a great all around setup.

Scoobysnacks, Any pipe will open it up, I wish I would have looked around for one. I got the team alba silencer. It works very well but others might be better. You need to get new tires, my experience with stock ones is that there awful. I got titan 489xts there awesome in the mud and on hardpacked trails and they make them to fit your stock rims, also a new air filter Alba makes a aluminum airbox supposed to be almost water proof but I dont really know, kinda waiting for someone to try it out. Like 95wolv said lots of skid plates they save money in the long run. You get all that and you'll have yourself a pretty nice quad.

Thanks for all the info, I am going to go online and find one this week and order it. I will have to wait on the 25" ers for another week but I have been told by many that the maxxis 25" s are the way to go for what I want to do with it.
Later everyone!!!
