Long rod is just an increase in the rod lenth. This requires a shorter pin height (distance from center of wrist pin to top of piston) or a plate between the crankcase and cylinder. A stroker crank inreases the distance the piston moves by relocating the crank pin towards the outer edge of the weights. Stroker increases the cc's of the engine. The long rod changes the angle the rod is at as it pushes the piston up, reducing load on the cylinder wall.
