Hey I raced a Z400 with a full Big Gun system out back yesterday. As you can tell from my sig. I have only a T-4 slip-on. It was very interesting. My tires are about shot, and if he got me off the line then he'd pull me all the way to the end of the field. If we got off at the same time it was neck and neck then he'd BARELY pull away from me. I expected to get blown out of the water, but with my T-4 all uncorked I hung on!! I don't even have a high-flow air filter, or the airbox lid removed. I can't believe how strong this EX is. On a hard-packed gravel driveway with loose stuff on top it will wheelie in 4th gear!! Now I can't wait to get an XR400 cam in this thing to be eating Z's and KFX's!! I wonder if I'd be in the hunt with a stock Raptor after the cam?

 

that is sweet i am still debating wether to get a EX or Z400 this helps my decision.

i ran a stock 400ex this weekend and mine only has the slip on and a 155 main jet..........no filter yet

the first run was really close but i was letting the motor rev to high and he got me......
the next run i pulled the air lid off and shifted a little quicker and i got him pretty good.........
it made a big difference with the air lid off...........

the messed up part is i beat him a lot worse when mine was stock........than with the pipe and jet.......

 

riedred420, that's kind of wierd a stock 400ex beating another stock 400ex. Are you like 200 lbs lighter than the other guy?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] ATVmadman, definitely go with the 400EX because you can get them cheap, and some with low hours. The money you saved by buying the cheaper quad can be put back into it to make it eat others[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

Hey ride red420 How you like you 400 ex? I'am getting on in couple months or so i have been dying for one for a long time and now its comming? what do i have to look for in maintaing the bike?

 

We own both, and they have identical mods (FMF PowerBomb, Muffler,K&N, tires, rims, Works suspension, etc, etc). No way will the EX keep up with the Z!!

This cannot be true. I raced a 440ex when I only had my pipe on and he beat me barely....i mean less than half a quad length, and the weird thing is that the kid i raced is in 6th grade and weighs 93 lbs. (hes my neighbor so we went and measured him) and i came in at 170lbs. The only thing I can say is he must have been a lousy rider or maybe there is an extreme weight difference between the two of you.

 

I'm not one to say my quad is better then yours. My wife rides a Z400 coming off a 400ex and she gets up all the the big dunes easier and faster. Get todays news not yesterdays..
