Default Banshee or LT-500?

Looking for input from people who have ridden both Banshee and LT-500 Quadracer. I am interested in getting one or the other for primarily dune riding. Been on an '87 LT250 for 12 years and love the way it handles. (my 12 year old is in the process of forcibly inheriting it!) I like to jump and wheelie and slide and all that stuff, not just shoot hills. Ridden lots of 'Shees in varying states of tune, and like the power although most of them are pretty abrupt. I don't think they handle very well. Never been on a 500; need a comparison. I am assuming the 500 has a much more linear and torquey powerband than a Banshee. I am also assuming you can make a 500 run like a modified Banshee, without making it too "peaky". Feel free to compare the 500 to Raptor too, I have one of those and can use that information as well. Thanks Shady

The LT500R is BIG!!! If your a bigger person (6'1" 230lbs+) I would recommend it. I've ridden my brothers a couple of times and it makes mine feel like a hotwheels toy. Its power stock is OK, I would pipe it to wake it up though. Its powerband is nothing like the Banshee ON/OFF lightswitch powerband. Its more spreadout with lowend TORQUE. It will kick the snot out of a Raptor!! The LT500R is more comparable to the DS in its size.

I have never gotten to ride a 500 but i have allways wanted one, I just can't find one thats worth the money people want for them, since their so old, I have ridden a few banshee's and I think they handle ok the newer ones are much better than the old ones handleing wise in my opinion.

Have a Banshee and love it, but it was down to a decision between it and the LT500. The LT makes huge torque from bottom to top. A mild port job and pipe will make them run with piped and mild ported Banshees in a drag, but it will have a lot more power on tap down low for riding. They are pretty wide and long and handle great too. If you find one just look it over good and drive it a bit. They are getting to be a few years old now.Bubba

The LT500 feels very good in the dunes. The size of the machine is all welcomed in my book when it comes to the sand....wouldnt change a thing. The people I ride with on raptors and 400ex's say that its to wide....but then I hear them talk about getting a wider axle and a arms. The LT is set up very well for dune riding in stock form.

I have rode both bikes wild banshees and well the lt500s stright rock there worlds, it take a pretty built bike to take one, also the lt has lots of bottom end for trails but the banshee has the lightswitch powerband where the lt just flys stock there a man killer you better be ready to haul *** if you get one there not for timid riders.
