Default Do you smell that?

I noticed a VERY STRONG odor of gas coming from my Z400 when i ride.
i tracked it to the hose that is attatched to the bottom of the carb.
some times you can see "wettness"at the bottom of the hose near the swing arm.
has any one else experienced this problem?

Maybe the float in your carburator needs adjusting. It is the same principle as the float in the back of your toilet, terd! Perhaps it is letting to much fuel into the bowl, and the excess is coming out the overflow.

I have noticed that sometimes with my Z too. It doesnt seem to be leaking and I only smell gas once in a while. It may be a result of stalling out on tight technical trails.

You guys should notice alot more fuel coming out of the oveflow tube after hammering through a really rough whoop section. All the sloshing around causes the float bowl to overflow a bit (not indicative of a problem). If there is fuel coming out while the quad is running on level ground and not moving, then the floats definitely need adjustment.

Hey cannibal, I've had this same problem with my quadracer, I always assumed it was just my fuel valve that was bad, my quadracer leaks even overnight when it is sitting, and definately leaks out the overflow if the gas is on and it isn't running. Do you think that this is my float needing adjusted??? thanks

Float adjustment. And for the icon, maybe a little Dulcolax.

I agree. I would get a shop manual and check the float hight for sure. Turning the fuel shut-off to "off" wouldn't be a bad idea when the bike is going to sit for any length of time either.
