Pipe, filter, rejet, and cams, and you will beat him. With these mods you will have similar/more horsepower than him and this is where the 375lbs to 490lbs comes in.

 

The only z400 I seen that beat a DS650 was the Sparks Z435 Curt built, it is way fast[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img]!! I mean rocket fast. It beat my buddies DS720 Sam Coe built by 3 or more bike lengths. It was lightened up so good it didnt even have front brakes[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img] I tell you what, I think I might get mine done and give my wife the Raptor.

 

Well Smokins brother doesn't have a 720 (at least I hope not or he has no chance!) but for around $700 he could have a very fast Z. Oh, and one more cheap but worthy mod is the DRZ dirt bike base gasket which raises compression from 11.3:1 to 12.2:1 for only $20 (cometic sells both head and base gasket with 12.2:1 compression for $20)

 

My friend has a stock DS. My Z has only an FMF pipe and header, vented airbox lid, and K&N. In a drag race, the lighter (100 lbs !!!) high reving Z beats the larger, heavier DS off the line every time. He will catch me about mid way. Then we both hit the (stock) rev limiters, and both bikes crap out.

These mods really helped the Z on the LOW END, which will help you get the jump off the line. If you really want to humiliate him though, take him trail riding!

 

If you want to beat a DS650 steal his key.

 

I'll tell you what, my buddy has an 01 DS, I got 03 Z. Both piped, but mine has a 13 tooth sprocket, jetted, vented air box. He kicks my a$$ after we both get into second gear. Here is a suggestion for you don't race a DS650 unless you are on the trails. The DS will beat you everywhere else. Hope this helps.

i tell you what , you need a quadracer . it doesnt matter what you get 250 or 500 it would smoke him. if you get the 250 make sure you get the mods, but if you get the 500 stock would beat him ,but modified would make him look pitiful and pathetic. i have beat modified Raptors , DS'S , banshees, 400's (easily), and anywhere between with my 265 quadracer. they wern't super modified but there were no stock ones.
