At idle, there is a rattling sound that seems to be coming from inside the case around the clutch basket area. Any ideas to what it is? I guess I'll go in for a look.

Oh yeah, it still has a ton of compression, runs good.

 

the springs get loose at the back of the clutch basket or your bearings are wore or maybee a nut is loose on the crank or counter balancer.

 

Yeah my moneys on the counter balance. At least thats what it was on my R.
