Default Z250 vs. Honda Rancher ES 2x4

One of my friends has a Honda RancherES 2x4 and wants to race me. I wouldn't be too worried, but she is a girl, and she is good. So it would hurt my ego pretty bad to get beat (if it was a guy I wouldn't mind as bad!!). So should I come up with an excuse not to race because I'm going to get my tail wooped, or do I stand a chance against a Rancher. Both machines are stock, and we are going to be racing through some tight woods and a field section about 2 miles long.
Any help is appreciated

The Rancher probably has the advantage on the straights, and you definitely have the advantage in the tight stuff. The 2X4 Rancher has higher gearing than the 4X4. But, the Rancher is 100+ lbs heavier, so you might just give her a run.

Thanks, for that. I havent even seen a Rancher before, so I had no idea how it would do. Luckily most of the track that we are going to be racing on is tight woods. Hopefully I wont get beat by a girl That would bruise my ego VERY bad.

Even though a rancher is a size350 it's only making a little over 320cc's and it's a utility quad first. I think you should win on trails or a straight either one. I mean yes yours is a 250 but it's a sports quad you should win. Trust me I have a rancher, yes it's a four by four so the 2 by 4 might be somewhat faster but not much. A 250z maxes out about 54mph and a rancher only hits about 51 or 52mph and I don't think it would get to top speed as fast as a 250z. I've been beat by 300ex's pretty handily on my rancher so give it a try. It's not shameful loosing to a woman trust me I loose to my wife (maybe not on a quad) all the time at stuff. Go race and have fun.

And, if there are any whoops at all, you will get her there. The Rancher is no MX bike.

I hope I can beat her, and for me it would be shameful to be beat by a girl. Everybody around here nows that I'm really good on a 4-wheeler, and me getting beat by a girl would spread like a wildfire. I guess I'll give it a shot. The girl I'm racing against can handle a quad pretty good, and I knew that if she had one that was faster than mine I wouldnt stand a chance. I guess if I get beat then I get beat and I'll just have to give her credit for it. Thanks for the help.

Yeah at your age it does suck getting beat by a woman but after you mature or grow up or whatever you'll find out women will beat you a lot. Maybe not in racing or sports although I do play almost every sport and I have seen some women in them that can kick my butte. This past weeks volleyball game showed me that when a six foot two inch woman made me eat a spike. (now that is embarrising)

mudslinger400z, I know I'll get beat by women a lot. My girlfriend already proved that to me. But getting beat in a race on 4-wheelers, thats just too much for me. I guess our quads are pretty close to being even and both have their pros and cons, so if she wins I guess I have to accept defeat and my ego will get smaller. Nothing I can do about it. Thanks for the help anyway. At least I know I won't get creamed by her (I hope).

Youll beat her (unless your 6'2 and 265lbs , this is coming from a ~previous~ rancher owner, 6' and 128lbs and oh yeah, the ranchers are fun, but Im positive youll beat her, not by too much, but youll beat her.

Later,

Mark

I'm only 5'7" 120 pounds, but she is about 5'5" 110. But I think I can beat her. I know the trails better than she does too.
