z400 plastic trouble
#1
who else on here thinks suzuki's fender design for the z400 sux? i'm not talking about looks i'm talking about where everything snaps together. seems like the more i ride the looser the fender joints get...particularly where the bottom of the gas tank cover meets the rear fenders...mine is all scratched up just from that coming out of the slots

The 2 things that really burn my b@!!$ are the location of some of them and the fender mounting brackets. The brackets are the worest. I'm getting little white spots from the wind shacking the fenders from doing 65 on the truck. that really makes me mad

Your plastic rivets shouldn’t be coming loose. Are you sure they are fully snapped back together? The center needs to be flush, too far in or out and it’s going to come loose.
Push the center of the rivet through and remove it, if it seams worn out get some new ones from your dealer. You could also swap it out with one in a less important position. Plenty of overkill with them on the front plastic.

I like the plastic rivets, no tools required to take off and they are a snap. Mine have never come loose at all and I have had mine for almost a year now. I would look at them a little better and make sure the center is not pushed in to far, they should be even with the outer part or yes it will be loose.

boneshock, I was told to heat the white spots with a hair drier and it helps to bring the color back.I have never tried it, so I dont know if it works.Might be worth a try.

jt .... I know where your talking about and yes they do suck , if you drill an 1/8 in hole on the inside of the graphics piece and then on the rear piece you can use a zip tie to hold them together tighter , there is only enough lip on the inside for an 1/8 in bit . Down fall is you always have to cut the zip tie if you need to remove the side pieces. good luck

I watched a buddy of mine go from a nice new Z400 to a quad that has plastic hanging off of it everywhere without wrecking it. Good sized jumps and rough tracks are enough to destroy the factory plastic and mounts. He ordered Fullbore plastic to replace the factory mess, much nicer and many times sturdier but a little spendy.
