Default vinson auto-- should I trade for Manual??

My wife talked me into the auto when we bought our bike. I like it alot but in the mud I think the Manual will be way better. I have had it in holes in low range and on the handle bar, and the wheel spin is minimal. Talked to the dealer and he said for 400 bucks i could get a manual shift, but then have to pay full sales tax on the new one here in Michigan to the tune of another 400 bucks. I don't want to spend that much but considered a clutch kit, but the reliability goes down then. What do ya think?

Not sure about the Vinson clutch kit, but I know on the Polaris's it actually helps belt life. You get a tighter bite on the belt with less slipage at start up.
In the mud is where the autos really shine. Put your feet up on the bars and nail it, max power going to the wheels in the perfect gear even with changing traction conditions.
The manuals are nice for water crossings, but the autos rule in the mud.

I would leave it alone, or sell it and buy another, I think the manual will be a little better but not a lot better, I have both and to tell you the truth my Eiger auto is awsome in the mud, I guess you guys just tear it up more than I do.

I think with the Auto's their are more pro's than con's when comparing to a manual, for play anyway, for work I would get a manual.

Just remember that when your in 1 1/2 foot of water and mud and you have to back up. On the manual you have to put your foot down in the water so you can put it in neutral so you can shift into reverse.

i have a manuel 2003 vinson w/ hmf exhaust , twin air filter, jets and 27" gators. to each his own when it comes to choice. today we took 2nd place in the local atv rodeo out of 100+ entries. i was the only suzuki entered in the event but get this..we stalled at the 50 ft mark , restarted and went almost 200 ft after sinking the machine in mud over top of the fenders. peoples jaws litterly dropped when the suzuki came up from the bottom of the pit. the only one to even come close to that mark was some smuck on a yamaha who got lucky when we stalled.
