Default Just Got An Eiger- Shifting Question

Just got a new Eiger.

My first ever quad. I got the 4x4 automatic with Hi/Low range.

The manual warns to come to a complete STOP before shifting between 2 & 4 wheel drive, or Hi or Low range. Seems a bit inconvenient- in fact during my first ride there were several times that I used 4 wheel drive and low range, and it was a real pain to keep stopping (obeying the manual) to shift. Is this for real?... do all you 4x4 folks have to stop to shift?

Thanks,
Bill

Nope. As long as you're not running under load you can shift on the fly between 2wd and 4wd - just ease off the throttle. You should still come to a stop or near stop when shifting between Hi and Lo.

On the Eiger, about 600. Put several thousand on the old KQ with the same method of shifting and never had any trans or clutch type porblems. It would be a different story if you were running hard and fast while while shifting between 2wd and 4wd but when you can feel that the bike is basically coasting, it's a smooth transition.
