Thanks Z400-KFX400 Owners!
#1
I wanted to post my thanks to all the Z400/KFX400 owners posting on the forums. The information posted on these forums helped me make the decision. All the info is very much appreciated and is a vital service for those of us that don't race and are new to the sport but want a good perfomance quad for trail riding. I just bought my KFX400 three days ago, I got a good price without paying the "fees" and after calling all dealers in NM and NW Texas I found the deal I was looking for. After looking through all the posts, I know what to expect for future problems, if any.
Thanks Again! Please keep up the good work!

I hope I gave you some helpful information somewhere. I was in a heated battle with a fellow forum member and could have messed up at least one of the informative threads about z-frames. I tried to give information and argue with this guy at the same time. I hope you enjoy your bike, there great rides. I have raced the last three weeks at a little local track and I'm tied for first in points right now. There's about twenty of us that ride at this track, with all different quads. Some of them are slow but there's also a couple of raptors and 400ex's. One 250r raced yesterday and he won two of the races we had. I won one and finshed second three times. I finshed in the top five every race we have had so far, with no mods. I do take the airbox lid off and run the highest octane pump gas with a little octane booster. Anyways just trying to give you an idea of what your new quad can do to compared to other stock bikes, peace.

BogSpores, I am down here in Las Cruces...
Mudslinger, Yeah, all the information has been great. It is great to know what to expect ahead of time. I looked over the frame before I purchased, and everything looked good. The only reason I got the KFX over the Z was the price difference and there are more Kawasaki dealers around here than Suzuki. I have a few friends that race dirtbikes and now I can tag along better on my KFX...They blow me away on the straight and narrow, but I catch up when they bog down in the wash. I am going to keep it stock for a while but expect to pipe, jet, and air sooner or later. In the mean time, I am taking it easy on the breakin...
I purchased the Service Manual on EBay but are there any drawings of the stock BSR36 Carb online? I looked on the Mikuni site and it doesn't look like they support OEM carbs.

Orange how do you compare your ex when it was stock to your kfz (if you got the ex stock)? Don't you think stock they were pretty close in power. I have raced some ex's and for everyone to rag about their power I have barely beat the ones I raced and they pulled on me early a lot and I caught up in around third gear and didn't stay to far ahead until the end of our drags. I have also lost to one that just had the airbox lid removed and a k&n air filter.

MUDSLINGER, I am comparing them both stock with a pipe, jets and K&N. I can't believe how much more power a KFX has over the 400ex. My KFX beat a ex with a big bore piston (11:1-wiseco). By the way, the KFX has reverse. I had to dump alot of money into my honda motor to make it some what fast, If I do the same on the KFX it will be scary-fast. I just think the KFX or Z is way better than the 400ex. I love honda and hope they come out with something better but for now the KFX is the best (I know about the YZF450).
