this is my second post for this question, first post got no positive result. so any help would be great. ok i have a 03 vinson 500 4x4, i want to install a rear back up light due to lots of night time woods riding, there is a factory plug on the vinson somewhere that you can hook in a back up light and it will come on when it is shifted into reverse. can anyone tell me where to find that plug on the vinson? ive looked all over it and i found some unused wires on the front under the left fender but 1 wire is constant hot and the other is a ground. ive not been able to locate a wire that shows power when shifted to reverse. i would like to find the correct plug for the back up light rather than using a switch for the light. thanks for any help!

 

What makes you think there is a plug-in? I suggest going to the dealer and looking over their service manual, or you may be able to find it online. Take a look at the wiring harness diagram. Why not just wire it into your tail light and add a switch? You would only need it when your lights are on, right?

 

suzuki sells a back up light kit for the vinson, it says that there is a factory plug just for a back up light that the light plugs into, i think it would be much easier to hook it into the factory plug than runing wires and hooking it to a switch! that would be pointless! if there is a factory plug for the back up light to plug straight into and then the light only comes on when shifted to reverse! guess i will ask the service tech at the dealer. thanks

 

I bought the Suzuki horn kit and it had a wire plug-in for that also. Even with the instructions, it was difficult to find the right wire. Took a while, but I found it.
