i had one too...it was also stock.

I found a lot of parts for it though. Just go through dirt wheels and order all the free catalogs from the advertisers. i have a collection of about 10 now, and i can find anything i need. i would start with getting some smaller rear tires. that could be the cause of your bog. Most likely not, but you would still want smaller tires. i hear the DG RCM muffler really helps, and a new air filter. You can also get a wiseco high compression piston, cam, air filter, and a carb kit. there used to be a 265 big bore kit from LA Sleeve, but i dont think you can find the piston for it anymore. hope this helps.

The best thing you can do for the money is a pipe and a better air filter. I had the DG RCM and I liked it. I bought the disc kit so I could adjust the noise. After that you can dial in you gearing by changing sprokets. A cam and valve work are also good, not too expensive mods. I'd get a case saver ASAP.

i'd considered a pipe but i didn't want it too loud. i didn't know that you could get disc kit for it... are those like baffles? what do you mean by a case saver? do you mean a skid plate?

thanks for the info.

I had a steel DG RCM. It uses diffuser discs like a SuperTrapp(but for the RCM it is an add on) You can use less discs to reduce noise. The case saver goes in front of the engine sprocket to protect the engine case when the chain comes off. Check the axle bearings, and swingarm needle bearings for play. Too much play will cause the chain to come off frequently. It's common on these bikes.

i agree w/ MBrooks. check the rear end over very carefully. any slop in the swingarm and you'll be throwing chains left and right. i got an old 'Sport and decided to rebuild the suspension first before tweaking the motor.

i just had my carrier bearings go and it caused the whole quad to go to one side, made me slip the peg and totally screwed up my leg. i agree with malhombre. check your rear end carefully.

ouch! hope you're up and riding soon!
the pivot bearings in my swingarm were totally shot when i got this quad. the swingarm pivot tube was all cracked and barely hanging on. got lucky and found a new +4 swingarm for dirt cheap.
