LT250R, had this problem since i went riding last summer, my chain fell off and it ripped off the case saver and the bolts in the case, snaped off the aluminm thread holes on the out side of the case, and ripped the threads out of the inside, now i know im not the only one with this problem, someone has to be in the same boat as me. bummer dude, seems to me the options would be: one, get another case on that side from somewhere;two, search your whole life for a welder capable of working MAGIC on those bosses;and what I'd do (after replacing the case failed) is just leave it be.If you're not being splattered w/ chain oil,and if there's no danger of getting your hangin'chads caught up down there then I'd say hey, this thing'll go faster now that it dropped that weight! But seriously, just find some decently thick aluminum and cut/bend /mold (beat the crap out of it w/ a three lb. hammer - but in a sophisticated way) to shape and find some of those half-clamps at the electrical supplies dealer in town, drill a couple holes where they should fit and make your own plate.Adapt it to fit your needs.Cut (drill out) one or two vertical or slanted slots in it (for radiator clamps) at the front at the top to secure it to whatever frame tubing is there.Hope this helps.

f250r,
i had the same thing happen to me last summer 'cept i lost my carrier in the process as well. to date i still have not replaced the case saver. if there is any room left in the old hole, u could drill and tap it, then just get the proper bolts to fit the thread u just made. u then may have to drill the holes in your new case saver a little bigger depending on the bolts u get. anyways, best of luck. hmmmmmm, i'm not a welder so i couldn't say for sure. i don't see why not . the guy i bought my R from blew the motor and had one of the cases on the bottom welded and it's held up just fine. it's not a structural part of the bike, it's only there to protect your cases from being destroyed. talk to your dad and see what he thinks, if he's gonna be the one doing the actual welding.

go to ronnies.com, and go to oem parts, and order a new sidecase

Yes, they built it up with weld and ground it to shape. Then it was drilled and tapped with the proper threads. I already had my cases split and sent in to them for new bearing bosses. I don't know if CT would be willing to make the repairs to your case while it is together. Also, they may charge you more (since you are only looking to get that small amount of work done, you may get charged a larger, "shop minimum" ).
