Raptor or Z400?
#2
I want a new sport bike. I owned a V-Force for a short time and I was less than impressed. Should I get a Raptor or a Z400? How much faster is the Raptor stock vs stock in a 300 ft drag? Help a brother out here.

I looked at the two extensively before purchasing my KFX 400. I thought the KFX out handled, felt like it was the more stable jumper and had just a better all around feel to it. Had the oppurtunity to take both on a little make shift track (no big jumps however) and had far better times with the KFX 400 then the raptor...
Now with that said, me and a friend opened them both up side by side...you here alot of people say that they want to expand on the 400s lowend and are happy with mid and top end....i found that my expierances have been just the opposite...When we dragged the two the 400 was right there with the raptor until we hit fourth...the raptor didnt walk away from the 400 it ran...I have the mods listed below because i was savey enough to work it with the dealer when i bought the quad and actually less then if i had bought a Rappy...so i believe the bike in its present form will run in a 300 footer with a stock raptor...but who leaves a raptor stock and it (raptor) will always have more potential. The 400 pulls and is a blast to ride...I didnt buy it to drag, if i wanted to drag or race in a stright line i would have bought a banshee (now probably a YZ)...but with the mods it pulls just fine and has alot of spunk (it did alright stock too)...it is great to be racing through high banked trails and coming upon a nine foot drop off ... punching the throttle...watch the front end rise up ever so slightly and the bike launch from the edge and then set you down with a nice controlled soft landing.
Which one is for you is really up to you. If you are one that likes the bragging rights of the drag then the rappy is probably for you as it does have more potential for raising the horsepower. However, if you are constantly testing the limits with your riding skills over various terrains you have to love the package that kawasuki 400 presents you. Good luck with your decision...both a solid quads so you cant go wrong...just insure you get the one that excells in what you want to do with it.
Why didnt you like the KFX 700...that is what my friend bought...he liked it far better then the raptor...thing is a little heavy but handles and performs great...we are high altitude so he needs to get some clutching adjustments and a pipe and then it will fly...it does pretty well now actually. New quad they are just figuring out...hope you didnt give up on it to soon...it has alot of untapped potential.

stock Z vs stock rappy will be close through 3rd gear, after that the rappy will pull away.
If you weigh more than 200lbs the raptor would be better. If under 200lbs a Z would be better.
Smaller engine has trouble pulling the weight around.
My .02 cents.
