92 lt 250r whats the hole for?????
#1
I have a 92 lt250r that i just started to restore. Everything is like new it, it even has the factory tires with about 80% life left. Hear is my question? On the bottom of the motor by the drain bolt for the anti-freeze there is a very small hole! What is it for? Is there something that goes there or not? I just started to notice that anti-freeze comes out of it when the motor is running. I read in my manual that if you remove the impeller shaft you must get a new part that the shaft goes though. I have not taken anything apart to make it leak out this hole. Could age and wear be to blame and I just need to get new gaskets, or do i have a bigger problem

It's called the weep hole, and if your leaking, you need to replace seals. If it's coolant leaking then you have a bad mechanical seal, if you leak oil then the oil seal is bad, you should replace both since you have to remove the impeller.

I got a kit of ebay that had every seal but the bearing for the impeller and redid mine on my 88 zilla and it still leaks. The bearing is spendy so i havnt tried to shotgun that yet ive just been putting atifreeze in the resivior and riding it any ideas on this..???? And one if the bolts is kinda stripped would that make it leak to???

When you replace the water pump parts you cant touch them with anything that might get oil on the ceramic disk, even finger oil, then it will leak. Also in the suzuki manual, page 4-2 its says you can add
13-14 ml of bars leak, also says every new motorcycle is serviced with bars leak and to add some when the cooling water is changed.
This isnt a substitute for bad seals or poor mechanical ability.

It's never good to have a stripped bolt, but if it's leaking out of the weep hole then it's a seal problem. Also make sure when you replace them, they are in straight, it is easy to put those seals in uneven and not notice.
