LT250R vs. TRX250R vs. KXF250R
Back in the day, the fastest of the 3 was the KXF250R. Like most people would say, handling is really the more important factor. Add in durability, and it's very clear the TRX250R was (is) the better bike. My experience with the LT250R was ok, but not great due to maintence issues. I would recommend the TRX250R, then draw straws between the LT and the KXF. In a battle for 2nd place, I'd go for the Kawi, just because it was an interesting short-lived quad, kind of a curiosity IMO. All brands make good quads, and my loyalty lies with quaility products, not manufacturer - thus my fairly unbiased opinion.

Neither of my LT250s have had any problem except a worn clutch pressure plate on one and a new pump seal on the other. The 91 handles so similar to an R that if you were blindfolded and detuned the motor you wouldn’t know the difference. The 91 easily outruns similarly modded Rs even with smaller riders and I spent less than half the $s they did. To me buying a R is like buying a pair of Nike sneakers in Junior High, there are other sneakers that have the same quality for less $s but those sneakers won’t make you cool.

My LT takes abuse like a Cuban welterweight. Ya just can't hurt the dang thing. Towed a dead Blaster a LONG ways out of the sand dunes with it, overheating and steaming and slipping the clutch and all that, never hurt it. Jump 45 footers with it all day long and I weigh 200, never hurts it. I would argue on the reliability thing. I just wish it had front suspension geometry like the Honda R.
