I have an 85 205r and am looking for a new cylinder. I have only put about ten hours on the new piston in it and it quit running i pulled the expansion pipe and looked inside the cylinder. Its all scored like a small stone or big peice of sand got in there not only that but the piston shows sighns of blow-by. i dont know what the hell happend. i babyed the piston and broke it in right. Could the blow by be due to and exaust leak. i dont think the cylinder can be saved by re-sleeving. but i cant find a place to buy a new cylinder any help would be appreciated.

 

Are you sure it can’t be bored? It could be resleeved unless there is damage to the aluminum on the outside of the sleeve for some reason and even then, it might be reparable. I would not buy a new one they are very expensive. Cylinders for 85-86 LTs go fairly cheap on Ebay compared to other types of quads.
