Questions about an lt250
I am new to ATV's and this forum so any info about lt250s would be greatly appreciated. I am about 6'3" 225 pounds is an lt250 gonna be to small on me? Is there any problems with the first two years they were made, because I have heard people say to buy the later years. But the ones in my price range are the 85-86 years.(i think)
thank you

After '86 a power valve was standard, which adds a lot of low end and some midrange, so you get better acceleration and the engine will pull instead of lugging. There is nothing you can add to an 85-86 engine that will duplicate the PV's performance. LT250Rs offer a lot of quad for the dollar. On used ones, look closely at the frame for cracks or rewelds, also check the chain tensioner studs. Those are 2 "soft spots" on LTs. Even if you get one as a starter quad, you may keep it because nothing lights up like a 2 stroke. Have fun shopping.

Shiny RR,
Go ride an 85/86. Chances are you won't be disappointed. The later ones may have better power, but the 85/86 LT250R's are no slouches. People in these forums tend to be a little power crazy, so take their advice (they're usually right), but make the decision based on your needs. Since you are new to ATV's, you will probably be happy with the power of the 85/86, my advice to you and all people looking for a quad is to actually go ride a few and see what you like best. Anyone selling a used quad who doesn't let you ride it is someone you don't want to buy from.
