Hell,
I own an 86 LT250 and I even have to ask why would you go from a 400ex to the suzuki. Given, mine is faster than a slightly modded 400ex, but a 400ex still gets the job done. Also, no offense, but it sounds like you dont know that much about quads, but then again you could be very mechanical, but not be a name brand association type of guy. Anyways, you may want to keep the low maintenance 4 stroke honda. But if that deal falls through, I have an 85 LT250 with sand tires for $1850, and I live pretty close to you. Riverside

Well the first quad i ever rode (when i was like12) was a 80 somthin 250 suzuki so i kinda have a soft spot for them. As for not knowing much about quads you are right, that is why i am picking your brain. I am not affraid of getting greassy and i know a hell of alot more about cars and trucks than i do about quads, but a engine IS an engine and i am sure then i can do what ever is neccary as long as i have a clymers manual.; any how what would you estimate the value of the 250 to be? It is kinda beat up and i'm sure it needs ALL the maintinence. Oh yea i read your other post about the 250's and is there any thing else that i should look at on the quad before i buy it ? ie frame etc..

Just look aroundthe a-arms mounts, and the swingarm. Particularly around the shock mout and the carrier. Usually the cracks are on the bottom. I work on cars too, and for the most part, an engine is an engine. Just keep things maintained and dont let a problem liinger on. Oh, and make sure that the socks dont feel blown
