Your friend is wrong. A filter like a K&N will get you more air so you can put in a bigger jet to get more gas. More air + More gas = More Horsepower. Don't just put an after market filter in though without changing your jet. Then you will be running lean (too much air, not enough gas) and that is very bad for your engine.

If you don't have to rejet (beleive me you will) then you would waste your $$ on an aftermarket filter. The whole idea is to get less restriction which = more power.

I think they can make a very big diff. if you plan on modifing your quad, but with just an air filter you wouldnt have to but after you do stuff it would be a very goood idea and if you get lazy and dont rejet you may over heat and posibly blow your motor

if you stick a k and n in there and you ride dunes and you take off the lid... youll notice bigger HP.. if you stick a k and n in and you ride in really dusty areas and you take the lid off youll notice bigger HP till youget engine in your motor... depending on where you ride i HIGHLY suggest a foam filter PLUS an adapter.. my raptor blew up because the k and n filter was not on all of the way i am guessing or it just went through the k an n... with a foam filter you wont get the HP that a k an n gives... but it is damn safe just keep it oiled. i suggest pro flow UNI filter system or the NOSS setup

I am really happy with my UNI proflow filter, i could really fill a difference in throttle response, and an air filter and pipe combination with rejetting can make a world of difference for the raptor anyways.
