Default Engine Displacement Question

I have an old Arctic Cat snowmobile with a Suzuki engine in it. I was wondering if anybody knew what the displacement might be. All I know is that is a 1980 2-stroke, 2 cylinder engine, and on it was a decal on it that said the bore was 54mm and the stroke was 80mm. Somebody said that they thought it might be 292cc, but I'm not sure. Does anybody know anything about this engine???

Default Engine Displacement Question

I found a website to calculate engine displacement. It is http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/c...splacement.htm
If the sticker on the engine is right that the bore is 54mm and the stroke is 80mm, then the displacement is 366cc.

Default Engine Displacement Question

oh yeah, I figured out the formula too. It's BORE x BORE x STROKE x PIE divided by 4=displacement per cylinder

Default Engine Displacement Question

Is it a Suzuki "Spirit" motor? Suzuki used a line of motors called "Spirits" during the 70's and early 80's. Is it a free air, fan or liquid? What kind of sled? I am a vintage cat fan, and know a little about them.

Default Engine Displacement Question

A twin cylinder with a bore of 54 and a stroke of 80 will displace 366 cc's.

The formula is Pi x Radius squared x stroke then x two for the second cylinder. The radius is 1/2 the bore. So it's 27 x 27 x 3.14159 x 80 x 2 = 366cc's. You'll be moving the decimal three places to get it into centimeters.

Default Engine Displacement Question

MBrooks, on the plastic casing around the pull starter is says Arctic Cat Spirit. But on the engine itself it says manufactured by Suzuki and all that, so I am assuming that is a Suzuki Spirit engine. It is a free air system. The sled was manufactured in February 1979, but is considered 1980 Arctic Cat Lynx. Hopefully after Christmas I can bring it down from my grandparent's house in NY to NC and work on it some. I am planning on widening the skis out, and maybe having the engine rebuilt if I can get the parts needed for it. The only problem I have with is it that it floods VERY easy when trying to start it, but once it gets started it runs pretty good, but considering its 366cc 2-stroke, it doesn't seem to have much power or speed at all.
