I just cracked my swingarm on three sides. I think it has been welded before. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix it, or where I can find an inexpensive replacement-used or otherwise?

 

you need to have someone weld it and gusset it the lt250r swing arm has problems cracking or get a new one

Well looks like I am welding it. A new swing arm is like $1000 american. Not sure my bike is worth that. I wan't to buy the new Suzuki or 450EX and sell this one so looks like welding is the way I am going. Hopefully it holds.

 

Lonestar and HSD Racing make them for the LT. They're both about $850, but HSD's is available in a long travel version that gains about 4" of travel.

 

A place called metal tech produvts make them. I think they are about 600US. If you get it welded make sure they are qualified. I had mine welded a couple of times and after i found out they did not really know what they were doing. It is very specalized welding.

 

I would check e-bay they have good used ones on ther for cheap all the time. Im surprised it broke on the later model I had and 86 and broke it clean in half, but i thought the later models had that cleaned up. good luck after markets are spendy!!

Well I think it broke once before I bought it and it cracked in the same place. Under normal conditions it probably wouldn't have cracked again but I jumped it in 5th gear about 12' in the air and flew about 80', landed it on it's nose and then it did a couple end over end flips down a hill. That is why you don't drink, smoke dope and ride.!!
