Has anybody else broke their Z400 chain? My stock chain broke in two at the pin. I have never broke a chain before just streched them out.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

 

Its possible you had the chain to tight and it broke from impact/stretch stress

I've broken chains because I wasn't running my skid plate and I was also using a so called "ditch witch" sprocket(huge)and the chain took excessive abuse from the ground/rocks.

 

ur chain was probably too tight like racinjason said, did it ever get really hot after riding? My friends chain is so tight, it gets burning hot after he rides and u cant even move it up or down with your hand

 

Thanks for the reply, but no the chain was not to tight, I am very good on keeping maintenance up on my stuff. I was just coming out of a whoops section when it broke. After inspecting it, it looks like it fractured some time ago and then failed at this time all the way.

 

I've seen the chain break on a Z400 before. Some friends had theirs break just before a race, they had another Z they could steal parts from, but that's when they learned the Z's chain has no master link.....

Not sure what caused the breakage, the quad was pretty new at the time.
