questions about '87 LT 250r
#1
I was just wondering if the '87's had frame problems? Because i was looking at an '87 for a full restoration it's 1300 obo with a built motor and pipe. And i heard that some of the LT's hade frame problems does this apply to the '87? any replies would be greatly appreicated.

My understanding is that all of the LT's had frame problems. Just look yours over and check for cracks. I don't know if cracks are caused from hard use/abuse or just happen over a period of years.

every quad has frame problems it just depends on if you jump alot with them. My 87' LT cracked right up by the engine, but welding it using the right kind of rods and heat fixed it without having to buy a whole new frame. I also cracked my grab bar and cracked the frame down by the right foot peg.

The weak points in the LT frames were the upper front shock mounts and around the footpegs. If you can find a user named 'stoopidass' on this board, his photo page has a pic of where his frame snapped.
My original frame got bent where the a-arms attach when the bike was in a wreck. You can see where I gusseted my new frame on my photo page.
