Technically, so far they seem to be. Framewise, no. If you want one the first thing you need to do is get the frame gusseted. As far as I know they are said to have a reliable and very controllable engine and an excellent transmission. If they would just work out the frame kink, it would be dern near perfect.

My Z has been problem free. If you aint gonna race hard or try jumping really high, I am sure the frame will be just fine.

4 instances doesn't constitute "alot" in my book. That's the first I've heard of.......

First time Ive heard of it too. Ive been hitting 45ft tables and my frame has been fine. Its not huge air, but for a quad with no performance mods, its a rough ride. Im seeing stress marks (chipped paint), but thats it.

I've seen numerous discussions about the Z400/KFX400 frame issue. From what I've read in a discussion on a Z400 board, 03's made after about March or April has had fewer accounted incidents involving the frames integrity, but that was just based on the input of the people on the board and could definitely be wrong. To be on the safe side, just make sure you get an 04. More than likely, after a year or so on the market, Suzuki/Kawasaki should have addressed all the problems of the 03's and has rectified it.

i live in north pole, AK and it is rather cold up here. But i still ride at the track and jump and everything hold up great. Runs good in the cold too. But then again i haven't had it more than a couple of months. You really need to ride for a year or so to test the real durability of any machine
