Default Need help with father

I've just gotten my mom to say I can get a z250 so I was ready to buy one within the next week or two when my dad steps in and says that I can't get anything more than a 200cc. He had a 500cc atv when he was a kid but won't let me get anything above 200cc. I'm 14 and I've ridden both 4 wheelers and 3 wheelers(not a whole lot but a good bit). I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with parents and if you have any advice.Thanks.

Maybe there needs to be a new forum category: "Trouble With Parents". Pull a fast one on him, and get a 200cc Blaster. It is a 2-stroke, and way hotter than that Z!! Cheaper too and lighter!!!!!

I let my kids ride whatever they can handle. My daughter 13, has my old hand-me-down desert prepped 400EX. Over the years she has gone through an LT-80, Recon, 250EX, 300EX, and now the 400EX and Rancher. She is a big kid though, and passes for 18! My son is 9, but he will be riding the 90 for a couple of more years, because he is a skinny guy and doesn't have the weight to handle a bigger bike. At 9, my daughter on the other hand, was riding the Recon.

Seriously, don't go so small that you outgrow the bike next week. But, don't go so big either, that you can't handle it. The 250 does seems like the middle ground. Most of my daughters friends who are your age, are now on 250's.

The Z-250 would be an excellent quad for you. Remind your dad that it is a FOUR-Stroke and does not develop the power that an equivalent two-stroke does. It being a four-stroke it is more reliable and requires much less maintenence. Remind him that 250 four-strokes are allowed to race against 125cc two-strokes in the dirtbike motocross world. The Z-250 has good suspension, electric start, reverse, handles very well and is an all around fun trail/sport quad. My 15 year old is on a Z-400, but it is his fourth quad, and he has been riding since he was 10. His first quad was a Polaris TrailBoss 325, which was a great starter quad, and fun for anyone. A 250 four-stroke is not overpowered, it is just right for young teens starting out.

Yea same thing I was thinking get a Blaster.

The Z250 is ane xcellent machine but I'm sure he'd really like the fact that you bought a cheaper priced amchine (Blaster) and it's 200cc. Only you would know it's faster

Just make sure to wear a helmet whichever one you get.

He's just trying to keep you safe. When you get older you'll realize this and love him more for it. Just be thankful your parents are allowing you to get a new quad. A lot of folks here would like to be in your shoes.

reconranger: A 13yo daughter that passes for 18. Wow that'll cause a few sleepless nights I bet. I'm sure she's a good kid it's the "other" folks that I would worry about. I'm trying to keep my 11yo looking like an 11yo. At least I won't have to kill anybody for a few more years.
