I picked it because I believe it is the best bang for the buck for an all around sport/race quad.

I have wanted one since '85. Finally found one, the price was right, so I bought it. Restoration will begin this winter.

My dad got mine for me 12 years ago for $700. It has been fast and reliable ever since. Only one engine rebuild has been done to it, which I did two years ago.

I've owned mine since '88. We bought my LT and an 87 shee for $3000 with a trailer. It's always been very reliable and is only on it's second piston.

I bought mine because a 500 motor fits in there really well.. weighs very little, and really hauls!

Pics are a good idea! I've already got the plastic coming, but want to repaint a bunch of items before putting it on.

im may only be 14...but i am on my second full size quad. Before this i had my Quadsport 230 which i got when i was 10 for free. I put around 600 bucks in it, and ended up selling it when i was 12 for 1200. Not too bad on my part. Since i had no clue what this 4 wheeler was, i started to do some research. Found some stuff about suzuki, but most was about quadracers. When looking for aftermarket stuff, most would be for the quadracer. So i did more and more research on the racers. After looking in the papers for a blaster, i gave up for a while with four wheelers. Bought a nitro powered monster truck (HPI Savage for anyone that keeps up on these) and that held me over for a while. But then one day i was lookin in the papers and found an 87 quadracer for 2000. I went and looked at it, and when i rode that thing i knew i was gonna buy it. The blaster was so slow compared to this thing. So i offered 1500 cash, and he called back and took the offer. He even delivered it to my house. I so far have fixed most of the small problems, except for bearings and bushings, and i have only 225 dollars in it. Basically, I just wanted a rare quad, that is still fast. I love having to tell people what it is, and being different. Instead of "Wow, there goes another 400EX, or 250R, Raptor, Banshee...etc" they will say "Wow, i havent seen one of those in a long time or something". I jus like that.

Sorry about the long post, but i like my past times. I have paid for almost everything on my four wheelers with my own money, so i am quite proud of them. Thanks

I was looking for a sport quad back in '91 and didn't have a real preference. Saw an ad in the paper for an 87 Qracer while in the hospital with my wife when she gave birth to our first son. Went up north to a little town called Colville WA and the guy who owned it worked at a Toyota dealership. The quad was inside on the showroom floor, and I mean showroom condition too. Rode it down the street, loved the powerband on the powervalve engine, paid him 2 grand and still have it today.

I bought mine because a Quadzilla around here goes for about $5000(CDN) in ok shape. I saw a 250 in the autotrader for 1200, which needed motor work, So i went for the drive (was about 2 hrs either way) and its wasn't perfect but it was in ok shape. Came with the Clymer manual so i offered 1000 and i got it.
Got it home and started loving it ( fix a few minor problems) and then did a top to bottom rebuild of the motor. Its been over a year since and not s single problem other than wear and tear items (cables, etc.)
The kicker was it used to belon gto a friend of a friend years ago, and it was raced, came with douglas rims all aroud, FMF full exhaust, keihin carb, and complete lonestar rear suspension ( swingarm, carrier and axle) so for a little over 2500 i got a pretty nice quad, for half of a quadzilla! (pardon the pun)

Sorry about the rant....
