This is what the younger generation of quad riders are notorious for. The "new and more powerful" modern 4-strokes do not hold a candle to the power of the late 80s 2-strokes. I dont care what you uncles brothers cousins former roomate said, NONE of the new quads will run with a stock LT500,Banshee, or Tecate in a drag race. LT500 slow to get going? What kind of logic is this? I have pulled high 1.7 60ft times on stock Zillas, whereas the best I could manage with a piped Raptor AND an extended swingarm was high 1.8s. Many of you know that I am not brand loyal, and as I said before I have owned and do own a Raptor and a Lt500. It took a fairly modded Raptor run top end with a BONE STOCK Zilla that had a slipping clutch, and even then the Zilla destroyed it in acceleration. Mod for Mod a Zilla is light years ahead of a Raptor. Yes the Raptor has a more "usable" powerband, and is far more advanced, but when it comes time to drag race, the Raptor is just a toy in stock or near stock form when compared to a LT500.
Ill break it down:
This list is only ranking quads by thier drag racing quality, not thier ability to handle tripples or sweepers. I will show many ties as a lot of quads are very close, and the winner will be determined by rider skill. A top speed list would closely resemble this one also, Ill put MPH next to each quad, but dont hold me to that exact# as elevation and rider weight can severly affect these #s
1. Lt500. 76-82mph
2. Close tie between Banshee and Kawasaki Tecate. 72-76mph
3. Tie-Honda 250r,Raptor,Preadator. 68-72mph
4. Tie-LT250r,YFZ450 68-72mph
5. Z400 62-65mph
6. 400ex 63mph
Im not going to put the 450r in the list since I have not seen any live proof of its abilities.
The v-force 700 would probably fall somewhere between #3 and 4, they can really come out of the hole if you know how to work them.
This is a pretty consistiant list, and Im sure that someone out there somewhere has seen a YFZ450 outrun a 250r, but as a whole, this is how it breaks down.

**** that sounds right to me. the raptor that was the same speed as the zilla had a lot of mods that why it was the same. Say what you like but in my opinion the Zilla is simply the 426 Hemi-Cuda with a 6-pack of the quad world. aint nothin like it and never will be

Yea exactly why they go and pay 2 to 3 grand for a quad that will beat the one you paid 6 grand for and as long as you put the 3 grand down up front (whether you buy one that has been worked or work on one with the money you didnt spend) your still gonna get a reliable quad thats faster than a 4 stroke for half of the price of your four stroke
take a look at my 86 Honda 250R the only real upgrades i can make on it now is to get a bigger cylinder than the 310 that it already has on it.
