Z400 Owners: Question
#1
I'm thinking of buying a Z400 soon but just wanted to ask you guys a question or two. I ride with a bunch of 400EX's, and one of the riders has a KFX400. They like the bike, but their complaint is that there is a lot of footwork involved with the bike. For instance, they say they can keep it in 2nd gear most of the time, and on the KFX, you're always shifting up and down all the time. They say the KFX doesn't have enough low-end so to get through anything you have to rev the bike very high. I was wondering what you all thought.
Thanks!
Thanks!

The LTZ/KFX seems to like it better running a higher RPM. I usually run a gear lower than My Son's EX440 with all the goodies and have little problem staying with him. Now I have a Yosh SS Comp system and an edelbrock carb and Pro Flow Air filter mount/K & N filter. I hope to run with the EX even with 40cc more.

The stock Z is kind of lame on the low end. The engine likes to rev and the flywheel is light, so it is a pain to ride in technical stuff and slow trails.
BUT, an FMF PowerBomb Header, Ti-4 Muffler, vented airbox lid, and K&N with Outerwears (and of course a rejet), fixed that real fast!! Gave the motor the low end that the stock bike lacks! Mid and high end are great too.
