Default Best Air Filter

Hey,i am currently running a stock filter and air box but my box is falling apart and is really crappy to say the least!i was thinking of running a kandn filter and outerwear with out the air box but im not sure...any body have really bad experiences with kandn and vice versa?iv heard they suck for flow and that they clog really easy but why would the be so popular if they suck
Thanks

I would not run without an airbox! Without it, the air is rushing by the filter (because the bike is moving) and it is harder for the filter to suck it up. With a box, there is "dead airspace" that the filter can suck air from. Go without a lid maybe, but not without the airbox.

Never heard of kandn.

ive definatly seen banshees with filters attached right to the carb. All I gotta say about that is watch where you ride if you take that route. No airbox means gotta be very careful about moisture and mud spraying, not just submerging. I dont know what type of riding you do and I dont know that much about intake so thats my 2 cents

I ditched the air box and have a K&N clamped right to the carb. Runs good to me.

UNI! Get the P.O.D filter with the extention if you want an open filter. Get the regular filter if not.

I think the pros run with the airbox LID off not the whole airbox

A guy I ride with, had been running without an airbox on his 250R for years. He put one on, and HAD TO REJET BECAUSE THE BIKE WAS GETTING WAY MORE AIR! Doesn't make sense, but that is how it works.

I think so too. I was reading an article on the YFZ400 and they were interviwing some pro GNC racer and they asked him what he would do to the quad if he was going to race it. He said all he would do is only take the air box lid off and one other thing (forget what that one other thing was, think it had something to do with the suspension, but it doesnt matter).

Anyways, I'm planning on taking the lid off soon and rejetting it. I'm not going to take the whole box out. And I think I'm going to go with a K&N filter. So there's my input!
