Default bolt-on performance

I have a Z and its piped but i need more power and speed, especially at the dunes. Hot cams came to mind. Is it worth it and how much. And any other performance mods that wiil really give me the bang for the buck. My friend told me that Boysen had a cooling system that is suppose to be able to increase horsepower. Any idea, let me know.

I would do cams, head porting, and a stock bore high-comp piston.

All the parts combined are no more then $600-650. Bang for the buck thats going to be near impossible to beat.

If you have cams and a upgraded ignition such as the dyna you need the DRZ-E springs. Otherwise you are subject to get valve float, which in case you don't know is when the spring can't pull the valve up quick enough and it contacts the piston. They only cost $11 each from the dealer so when your engine is apart it's worth while to do it.

Yeah the DRZE dirtbike. It has dualrate springs. As long as you stay with the stock rev. limiter you will be fine with the stock springs. If you decide to bump it up another 2k your likely going to run into issues with those springs. I personally find the powerband much more useful with that additional RPM. I'm sure Hotcams gave you the information based on you running the stock CDI.

Yeah they did give me the info for running the stock cdi. I was not going to go any higher I was thinking about an aftermarket box I was going to get a vortex but It was going to be a while. Is it a big differance for power up that high? I though even built that the power droped off at stock rpms.
