Default set my dad strait!

k i was watching videos of people at choke cherry and there getting stuck and my dad walks in and sais. if they had automatics they wouldnt be getting stuck, my scrambler would climb that hill no problem. i tried to to tell him that like you cant kepp an automatic in the powerband and not just spin your tires if your slowing down and hes like i wouldnt even slow down in the first place. hes not stupid either i dont no why he keeps thinking its better. back me up hear!

Autos shine here.... always have the power to the gound defentaly with 4x4 and you can keep "powerband/rpms" high during the whole flight.

ya thats why everyone likes autos in hill shoots. just incase you might have miss understood im talkin like full automatic not autoclutch. man you cant go slow or medium speed and keep an automatic in the poerband especially since most of them are higher revs. ya they maby good for open flats. but how are you suposed to go 30 mph up the hill when your powerband kiks in at when the throttle is set pushed for like 60. its like one big progressive gear. to bad the banshees not an automatic cause that would rock!

You dad is right. You don't understand an automatic. It is always in its optimun power band. Thats the beauty of a continually variable transmission. It is NOT like one big gear at ALL, but an range within its low and top ratios.

uh ya i do understand an automatic, auto clutch( wich has 2 clutches) and a manual. polaris invented the best automatic trans. but since it does the shifting for you some times you need to stay in that higher gear on hill climbs because if you downshift then you will have to much power and dig yourself a grave. maby an automatic is better for not very expierenced riders because it shifts good but if you know wat you doing a manual will wax an auto any day

you obiviously dont know what a auto tranny is, there is absolutely NO SHIFTING done by the tranny whatsoever. the system is driven by two large helixes, that the fasted you go the springs compress more, and the frount helix rides up agains the belt more.

thanks. btw ever hear of the thread(my vinson beat a raptor and banshee in the sand drags) that was all of the matter of the transmission being able to put out the optimal revs and keeping it within the rev range, think this sounds right guys?

Vinson581, I'll back you on that one.

CVT / PVT are seriously misunderstood.
