Just got off the phone with the dude checking out my zilla, and he told me some bad news. Apparently the coil and cdi on my zilla are the same thing. Are all zillas like that? Anyways it needs to be replaced. Also, what should resistance be at the magneto?

 

If it's anything like my LT, the coil is up in front under the radiator and the CDI is attached to the frame under the gas tank. If you get a shop manual, you can know for sure what's wrong with it and not have to trust 'the dude'.

 

I just checked East Coast's partsfinder and the zilla's electric system has all the same parts as mine. Make sure 'the dude' knows what he's talking about.

 

He does. He has been racing dirt bikes for 20yrs. Anyways, there IS no cdi. Just this coil/cdi thing. I will take a pic now and post it.

I am almost postive that that is just your coil and not your CDI box, i have not been around a lot of zillas though.

 

I finaly discovered what it is. It's a ignition made by a company called PVL. Unfortunetly, its bad and needs replaced. They cost $375 too!

 

You might be able to get a new OEM suzuki ignition system for less than that.

 

The cdi(magneto coil) and the ignition coil are two separate pieces. If you desperately need a wiring schematic, give me your e-mail. Magneto coil resistance at Bl--B/white 175-265 ohm. Bl/red--Bl/white 315-475ohm. Range x 100 ohm

 

shop ebay gotmuddy.......if you have some time to spare and wait for the part to come along you can get a decent deal

 

I contacted the manafacturer of the ignition system, PVL, and I think they can test it. I just hope I dont have to send it to friggin Germany.
