mabey if the EX was modified it would keep up

 

has anyone ever seen a race between the two

 

i have a kfx400, same as the z400, i had a 400ex, 440 big bored..it smoked the kfx400..but never raced them stock, sold the 400ex a few months ago

 

i have seen a Z400 outrun a 400EX a few times, not by a mile but every time we ran the 2 the Z pulled the EX.

 

At the local ice drags a 440 ex (with every other mod possible and all plastic removed, which was a good idea) won, even though he shouldn't have been in the 400 class.

My sleeper Z with most mods except big bore was 7mph slower at 1000'. So, the extra CCs does make a difference (and the lack of plastic on the ex).

 

My Z(mods listed below) is the same speed as my friends 400ex with a stage 2 hotcam, 39mm fcr, fmf pipe and K&N air filter. For a while we both had only a pipe and air filter and the Z was faster.
So yes the stock Z is faster. Mainly has more pull through the higher rpms.

 

I took on a 440ex with my stock z and i was pritty supprised when i stayed with him until i we hit 5th gear than i pulled away.
