Still Wondering: Best Plow for the money for Eiger?
#1
I know many have asked about plows but I am still not sure the best way to go. I have a 2002 Eiger 4wd Automatic with no winch. What is the best brand and size for this machine? I am leaning toward a Moose or Cycle Country 48", but am also wondering which works best in manual lift since I don't have a winch and don't plan on getting one for awhile. However, if it's a pain in the a$$ to use without a winch I would like to know that as well. Due to the around the corner in the wind down the hill nature of my 150 foot driveway, the snow can be 15" deep in places when we got only 2" of snow, and the snowthrower is getting to be a hassle!
Please advise, want to make the right choice since I don't buy too many accessories...

HI Gixxer Jim,
I got a Cycle County 48" plow for Christmas. The plow has performed flawlessly. My only complaint is that I wish it could be angled more. I would say get the winch. The manual lift kit is like $100. I bought a 2000 lb Super Winch for $170 and $50 for the mounting kit. For the extra $100 you have a tool that can be used for other things besides the plow.
Plowing is fun, and can get you some extra cash. The last snow storm we had I plowed 6 driveways and sidewalks for $15 a piece. That will help pay for the winch in no time.

Cool thanks for the info. Where did you get the plow and winch?
I poked around the net a little but didn't find any great pricing, and the local dealer wants $345 for the plow sans lift and another $400 for a Warn 2500lb winch. The setup you have sounds good to me, I think 2000lb is strong enough for my needs...

You should check out the advertisers in this forum. All you have to do is click their banner adds and that will take you to their web sites. But remember to get the total with shipping. You may be able to get a better deal at your dealer if you take someone elses price to them and ask them to match it. It will give you a better relationship with your dealer as well so the next time you want a part, they will remember you bought that expensive plow or at least they should.
